Guitar Hero World Tour presents an expanded array of playing options, providing virtual musicians with the opportunity to realize their rock and roll dreams. Players can engage in the experience by mastering a single instrument or experimenting with various combinations of instruments, all while enjoying the immersive full band setup.

Incorporating the online gameplay modes from Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, Guitar Hero World Tour introduces the exciting Battle of the Bands mode. This innovative feature allows up to eight players to connect online, challenging each other band-to-band to determine the ultimate musical prowess. Within the Band modes, a maximum of four players can collaborate, whether online or offline, progressing through the game together. In the single-player Career Mode, players have the flexibility to jam on any instrument, following a branching venue progression that enables them to rock out in their preferred order.
